Marcia Mattson Todd, a
former DC and RS of our region and a Board of Govenor for many years
with the USPC, lost her long battle with cancer on Tuesday, April
21. Marcia was involved with the USPC for over 30 years
culminating with service as Vice Presidnet of Activities and Chair
of the Advisory Committee. In 2006 she was honored as USPC
Legend and in 2008 recieved the Founders Award, the highest award
for volunteers in the USPC. Her only daughter, Nancy, achieved
her A rating and was inducted into USPC Hall of Fame in 2006.
Those of us who worked with Marcia readily gravitated to her
vivacious personality, her enthusiasm for pony club and pony
clubbers and her beaming smile. She was a consumate volunteer
and a true horsewoman. I know I will greatly miss our rides in
the woods, her stories of her life, her family and her love of for
her husband of 50 years, Doug Todd. I have lost a dear friend,
neighbor and mentor. Our region has lost a great friend and
advocate. If you would like to send condolences to her family,
you may do so by going to www.scott-barbieri.com. The memorial
service will be held in Schenectady NY at the First Reformed Church,
8 North Church St, Schenectady, NY 12305. Donations, in lieu
of flowers are being made to this church as well. Godspeed
Marcia. (Suzanne

Fall
Annual Meeting Overview
Hi
Everyone,
Welcome to the start
of our 2009 year. The Annual meeting had good attendance and I
think we accomplished quite a bit. We elected a new slate of
officers (see below). Our region has a new Supervisor, as you
can see from the new slate Liz (our previous RS) wll still be
involved and will be around to help me if needed. In addition we
have another past RS back in the picture, Muffy Howard, who has
offered to organize a Vicki Taylor clinic for the region. Vicky is a
national examiner and if all goes as planned the location will be at
GMHA, Sarah Findley has remained one of our vice RS and has
been fostering a new relationship between our region and the Green
Mountain Horse Association. I look forward to that relationship
growing.We've lost a RIC but
gained a new vice RS with Suzanne joining the squad, we all feel
that the biggest need for our region is coordination of the national
ratings and preps for those ratings and we now have a designated
ratings coordinator, Kathy McGinnis, and we will either find a RIC
or Suzanne will step in if the need arises. John has
graciously remained as our treasurer and has already created a
spreadsheet to help event organizers budget their events and from
this we plan to put together a budget for the region. We’ve also
been joined by Bay Hammond and Mike Delaney who will be sharing the
secretarial responsibilities. In addition to the officers and
appointees we had many more volunteers who raised their hands to
organize the rallies. Some dates and venues are already selected.
Please read through the minutes and get ready for a new year. I'll
be updating the email lists and the calendar as quickly as I
can.
Best
